There are 115 first and second-year students presently enrolled in the Yeshiva.

We focus on the qualities that build a committed Jew.
Established and led by Rabbi Itamar Cohen, Magen Shaul is a yeshiva with a difference: Instead of lectures, its informal classes and discussions focus on current issues vital to the Jewish people. Students form close relationships with the Mechina’s young rabbis – all of whom are themselves Army veterans. These warm and personable teachers really listen and don’t shy away from difficult questions. Under the guidance of these dedicated role models, the boys examine the qualities that are crucial to their own personal growth:
:::: Ahavat Eretz Yisrael – love of the Land of Israel and an understanding of his own personal role in its future.

:::: Achdut - a sense of unity and tolerance that will help him find common ground with all his fellow soldiers, religious and secular.

:::: Emunah - the faith that gives a young man the strength to triumph over the challenges army life may pose to his spiritual beliefs.

Physical preparation for the army is no less important.
Magen Shaul works in cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces to help students train for their three years of army service. Sharpening survival skills through rigorous exercise and hikes are an integral part of the Mechina program. As a result of this intense preparation, the yeshiva’s graduates excel in the IDF, and are proud to count among them numerous commanders of elite units, pilots and other accomplished soldiers.
